A debate in Tallahassee Thursday on redistricting turned into a protest that stopped the legislative process and left both sides accusing the other of being uncivil.
The debate focused on a new congressional map proposed by Gov. Ron DeSantis.
As the House of Representatives moved closer to a vote on the map, Democrats marched to the front of chambers, chanting things like “we will not be denied” and “stop the Black attack.”
They also sang a protest song, conducted a sit-in and prayed in the aisle.
